We will gather in front of the church steps at 3:30 pm for prayers and before we embark on a 1.6-mile pilgrimage to Philando Castile’s memorial. We will make several stops along the way, praying for international students, the Chinese Hospitality Center, Emily Program participants, and students at the University of Minnesota and Luther Seminary. Bishop Craig Loya as well as the Rev. James Wilson and the Rev. Lisa Wiens-Heinsohn will join us.
You are also welcome to join us at Philando Castile’s memorial on Larpenteur Ave (near Snelling) at 4:30 pm. We will listen to Jesus’s passion from Luke and hear Valerie Castile, Philando’s mother, speak. A time of prayer will follow. The Memorial Garden portion of the service will be livestreamed at 4:30 on the Healing Our City website, https://www.healingourcity.org. The service should conclude by 5:15; those who are vaccinated can carpool with others back to the church, or walk back when the prayers are over.
The flyer that Valerie Castile designed for the service can be found at the right; click here to view a PDF.
Please let Lars know if you plan to participate in person at office@stmatthewsmn.org. All participants are required to wear a mask.
We will also send a self-paced electronic worship bulletin that contains a traditional Good Friday service for those who are unable to attend.
