Deep Listening Training

“In a world of noise, dare to listen. In a world of shallow connections, dare to build something real.” —Maxime Lagacé

We are all looking for connections with others, authentic relationships. Our faith community provides many opportunities to meet people. But it can sometimes be challenging to get to know others on a deeper level. This is where deep listening can be helpful. Learning to listen to each other, really listen, can dramatically change a community. Listening is an act of respect, humility and caring for each other, the very traits that build an authentic and loving community.

This deep listening training is offered to whole congregation to address our desire to listen better to each other, to visit with those we don’t know and to listen for God’s voice. The skills taught can be applied in everyday life, at home or at work, and in the church community. This training involves learning different types of listening, developing the listening heart, open ended questions and discernment practices. Participants will apply what they learn by dwelling in the Word and trying spiritual conversations. Anyone interested in possibly going on to participate in healing prayer or pastoral care visits must complete this training first or have previous training in this area. We hope many members of our faith community will consider joining us for this training.

We are offering the deep listening training on September 3 and 10. A light dinner will be served at 6:00 and the training will run from 6:30 to 8:30. If you are interested in attending or have any questions, please reach out to Judy Johnson at j.niemi.johnson@gmail.com.
