Men’s Retreat

We are excited to invite you to the 2025 St. Matthew’s Men’s Retreat on Saturday, October 25. We were able to source a genuinely great retreat leader, Ed Selner. Ed is Professor Emeritus of Pastoral Theology and Spirituality at St. Catherine University, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses for 35 years. He is the author of numerous articles and books, many of them on Celtic spirituality and the soul friend. One of his most recent is Pilgrimage: Exploring a Great Spiritual Practice.

Our day together will be focused on the ancient practice of journeying, of pilgrimage, shared by numerous spiritual traditions of the world. Ed will present key elements which they have in common, as well as how to develop a sense of our own lives as sacred journeys.  Certain practices, conducive to developing this awareness, will be examined, related to soul-making among the ancient Celts and Zen Buddhist satori experiences, associated with transformative, often life-changing, epiphanies.
