Spiritual Practice for Lent 2021: Five Minutes of Prayer

The Rt. Rev. Craig Loya, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota (ECMN), has invited all Minnesota Episcopalians to participate in five minutes of prayer each Sunday in Lent. These five minutes can be a period of listening to God, sharing concerns and prayers for friends, family, and the world with God, or both. As a member of the ECMN’s Discipleship Committee, charged with finding ways to help Minnesota Episcopalians follow Jesus daily, I ask you to also pray for the ECMN and St. Matthew’s. Pray that we will continue to deepen our connection with God so we can participate in the Holy Spirit’s work to bring healing, reconciliation, and new life in our families, neighborhoods, and state.

It may be helpful to begin your five minutes of prayer using the “Be Still” prayer, moving into a period of silence:

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.
